Creative & Cultural Skills launches Invitation to Tender for the new Creative Academy

  • Creative & Cultural Skills launches invitation to tender for the new Creative Academy

Creative & Cultural Skills are seeking a national delivery partner for the Creative Academy, initially as part of the Creative Employment Programme.

Key to the success of the Creative Employment Programme is the ambition to create long term sustainable change for young people entering the creative sector job market and to move away from a culture of unpaid internships and the absence of support for new recruits.

The Creative Employment Programme presents Creative & Cultural Skills with an opportunity to build on its successful careers programme for young people, Creative Choices, and establish a new national ‘Creative Academy’ to support Creative Employment Programme participants. This is because there will be a national cohort of new recruits entering the sector through the programme.

Based on previous experience and research we know that traineeships, apprenticeships and internships are more likely to result in a positive experience and sustained employment where both the young person and employer have access to independent advice and resources to support the placement and to help them with long-term career decisions.

The Creative Academy will offer practical resources and support, including training, networking and mentoring, to young people beginning a career in the creative and cultural industries. It will be initially aimed at young people undertaking traineeships, apprenticeships or paid internships through the Creative Employment Programme, but will not be exclusive to this group in the long term.

The deadline for applications is Friday 14 June at 5pm.
