My communications leadership spans organisations in the UK, Middle East, and Asia. Before the global pandemic took hold I was leading external relations, press, brand and digital at a new international science and technology research institution in Japan. I’m now back in the UK, based in my home region of North East England, supporting communications and engagement across the nations and regions for Creative & Cultural Skills.
I previously spent three years as Deputy Director of Public Affairs and Head of Communications at Oxford University, which I joined from a role promoting UK trade and investment in the Middle East.
I have teaching certificates in two instruments – flute and guitar – and was a member of the National Youth Theatre in my early days. I still love drama and performance, and I’ve also developed a love of watching contemporary dance, and appreciation of painting, sculpture and modern art.
The first half of my career was spent in broadcasting and journalism, after joining the BBC as a graduate trainee.
