What job do you do?
I am a theatre/ musical theatre/ opera director. I also lecture and am an educator. I visit schools and plan creative learning projects which fit with the school's fundamental objectives. I also facilitate many creative learning projects.
What previous jobs have you done in the sector?
I was an actress and singer for a long time. I have worked as Creative Learning Associate at Sherman Theatre, where I was responsible for the Big Lottery project connecting schools and communities with the theatre. I have had numerous roles within many organisations on a freelance basis.
What qualifications do you have?
I have a PG:Dip in Musical Theatre from the Royal Academy of Music and a BA Acting from Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
What’s the best thing about your job?
I get to meet so many interesting people from different cultures which I would never have the opportunity to do if I was not working within the arts.
And the worst thing about the job?
Filling out funding applications.
What piece of advice would you give a young person hoping to work in your sector?
If there is something else you can and think you would like to do, go and do that. If you are absolutely certain that the arts is for you, then bring passion. Passion is your fuel.
