Publicity staff (cultural heritage)

Publicity staff in the heritage sector work to promote various institutions or regions. They can work for individual galleries or museums, a region of a large heritage institution, or a particular venue.

Their work includes:

  • Negotiating with press and media for publicity
  • Promoting a venue or service
  • Liaising with designers and printers to create publicity materials
  • Dealing with administrative matters such as financial record keeping.

They may be involved in promoting the work of the heritage organisations. They also aim to attract visitors and raise the profile of the organisation, both locally and nationally.
