Amy Love, a cosplayer, vlogs about her work experience with children's media company Dog Ears

2Hey, my name is Amy Love and I have my own YouTube channel which is Sweet Dulcet Cosplay.

"So today I’m going to a company called Dog Ears, they have published a book, they have released Ireland’s first children’s book app and they have co-produced the show Puffins Rock.

"So I’m just walking up the street to Dog Ears now and I’ve found the building so hopefully it’s going to be an exciting day."

The task

Fionnuala Deane, managing director

"Okay Amy so you are very welcome. We describe ourselves as a children’s media company.

"We’re going to get you to do a really simple exercise and it’s based on a character called Mossy.

"So this is taking a full 2D piece of coloured art and making it into a piece of line art which we can then put on our Facebook page, so kids can print it out or download it and colour it in."

Eimear Doherty, studio manager

"So I’m just gonna let you do some colouring pages and do a layout that we would use on Photoshop when we’re promoting stuff.

"And I’m going to pull in this little character pose of Mossy, our little pygmy shrew.  And it’s just tracing over him, we just want his outline. Parents can go on and print it off for their children.

"So I’ll leave you with that and you can call me if you need any help."

Amy Love

"I was just given a task to trace one of their characters and I haven’t used Photoshop in months so I have no idea how this is going to go!

"Don’t be embarrassed to ask for help if you need it!"

Feedback from Dog Ears

Fionnuala Deane, managing director

"This looks really good, really nice details.

"I think it’s perfect and we’ll get it up on the Facebook page by the end of the day.

"Well done Amy, thanks."

Amy’s experience of the day

"I found today really good actually, it was completely different to what I expected it to be so it was definitely an experience.

"It was a very nice work environment and very ‘teamy’.

"Eimear helped me a lot thank God because I haven’t used Photoshop in that long, I forgot how to do everything.

"Turned out okay in the end!"
