How do I get a foot in the of the heritage sector? I have a Masters in historic building conservation and have applied for numerous jobs, still no luck.

Any advice? Thank you.

Dear Sarah

It can be very exhausting completing job applications and writing covering letters, especially in an area where this is a lot of competition. What I can’t tell from your comment is if you also have any experience - voluntary or paid, that will show your commitment to the sector?

Don’t lose faith - keep going and really think about what would make your application stand out from the others. Are you presenting your skills, qualifications, enthusiasm and experience in the way that a recruiter can immediately identify? Always get someone else to read through your CV, application form or covering letter before you send it off.

Good luck,
