How can I find jewellery work experience on my year out?

David wants to find work experience.

I am a second year law undergraduate at Queen Mary in London, with a keen interest in jewellery!

I am planning to take a year out of university and enter the world of work, and I’m interested in working in the jewellery industry!

Could you please advise on the options that might be available to me?

Amanda Brade's reply:

Dear David,

I’m really glad to know you are taking a year out to work in the jewellery industry.

Unfortunately, due to you having already started a degree, the apprenticeship is not an option as you will no longer be eligible. Instead, you could opt to study diplomas in either jewellery design, jewellery manufacture or jewellery retail and use these qualifications to get a job in the jewellery trade.

Alternatively Holts Academy has a job shop facility where vacancies are advertised for employers looking to recruit part time / full time or casual workers. If you like, you can give us a call on 0207 405 0197 for a chat and information. You can also visit our site (www.holtsacademy.com).
