How will we improve Creative Choices

Following on from our 2016 survey, we are so pleased to hear that you are very satisfied with our content and think that we have improved over the last two years! To make sure we carry on progressing, here are four of the main issues you had with Creative Choices and how we are going to fix them.

1. You want more focus on heritage

What did you tell us?

You’d like to hear more about the heritage sector and also hear from people who work within it. 70% of you chose heritage as the sector you are most interested in.

What are we going to do about it?

Firstly, we’re going to approach our heritage partners and friends about the idea of them writing a piece for Creative Choices. 

We’ll make sure to split the content between creative people articles which focus on the person’s job and career path, industry insights articles which offer tips and advice, and Creative Voices articles which focus on sector issues.

We’ll also approach them about signing up as one of our experts, helping to answer any heritage questions.

Secondly, we are going to make sure that we are promoting existing heritage content on our newsletters and social media channels as 87% of you said that was your primary method of keeping up to date with us.

2. You want more on education

What did you tell us?

It’s great to see from our survey that lots of teachers and careers advisors are using our website as a source of information however you would like to see more emphasis on education.

You told us that we could do better if we focused on a wider number of education establishments.

What are we going to do about it?

We’re going to work together with our education partners that are UK wide, to make sure that we are providing up-to-date and correct content and are getting a wider view of the jobs in the creative industries that are within an education setting.

We already have a huge list of job profiles for roles within the creative industries but some are missing the entry routes to them. 

Working with our education partners, we will try and gather the correct information, such as training and qualifications needed for the role, so that we can update them.

We’re also going to create articles that focus on teachers, advisors and assessors within the creative industries.

3. You want a wider spread of job locations

What did you tell us?

You’d like to see more locations offering opportunities and for more of them to be based outside London and the South East

What are we going to do about it?

As 63% of you said that your main reason for using Creative Choices was for finding jobs and training in the creative industries and 78% of you said that our jobs and opportunities listings were the most useful, we’ll try hard to improve where our listings are based.

We’re going to promote our job listings within the creative industry, letting people know that they can promote their jobs for free on our page.

We’re also going to encourage our friends and partners to do the same.

4. You want to see more competitions and networking events

What did you tell us?

As the figures show above, many of you use Creative Choices to find training opportunities and events near you. 

However you’d like to see more focusing on creative submissions and competitions and more opportunities to liaise with other creatives in your location.

What are we going to do about it?

Much like the jobs, we are going to promote that listings can be added for free on our website and we will remind our partners and friends the same.

We hope that getting the message out there will get opportunities being advertised with us that might not have before.
