What is it about? 

Deaf people belong to a thriving community with a strong sense of self. A community with its own signed language variations, its own history and its own cultural norms. As these can differ hugely from wider society, it is important to recognise and provide for this community on their own terms. 

This online workshop will discuss why it is important and beneficial to engage with Deaf audiences. What is ‘access’? What access tools are available and how can they be implemented. You’ll gain guidance around how to engage Deaf audiences with your organisation and encourage them to return. 

What will I gain? 

— Knowledge of the correct symbols, logos and language to use 

— Increased confidence around approaching and serving Deaf audiences 

— Tips to formulate a more holistic and practical approach to access 

Who is it for? 

Those wishing to build on little or no experience of engaging the Deaf community or who are developing more effective ways for Deaf audiences to access their services.
