Introduction to Acting for Screen (12-17)

Acting for screen requires a different skillset and approach than acting for stage.

Date: 13 April 2019, 10:00 — 14 April 2019, 17:00

This two-day course is for young people aged 12–17 who are interested in finding out more about the foundation skills necessary to perform on the small or big screen.

Led by an experienced course leader, you will spend two days in the Royal Conservatoire rehearsing, filming and evaluating short scenes within a supportive, group environment. Our aim is that you leave the course with a better understanding of what it takes to successfully convey character and story on film.

By the end of the course you should have:

learned how to act and react on camera

explored how to best use your physical body on camera

developed an understanding of different shot sizes and terminology used on set

improved your technical and creative performance skills

grown in confidence on how to perform on camera

This course is relevant for both students with some performing on camera experience and for those with little or no previous experience. The course leader will ensure all course content is accessible for you in the rehearsal room so you can get as much out of the course as possible.
