Introduction to Stage Management

A two-day intensive, interactive, introduction to the roles and responsibilities of the SM team

For any show a skilled stage manager is a must. This one person is crucial to every aspect of a live performance and works with all departments to ensure the show runs smoothly.

Over this two day course  you will discover what it means to be part of a stage management team in theatre. You will have an opportunity to try out some of the tasks and techniques required to stage manage and by the end of the course you should understand how to;

Prop a show

Create a prompt book

Set up a props table

Mark up a rehearsal room

How to work with a team of people to ensure the delivery of a live performance

You will learn about the different roles within a stage management team and how stage management sits within the wider context of technical theatre including the different types of companies/ productions that stage managers are employed in.

This two-day intensive, interactive, introduction to the roles and responsibilities of the stage management team is led by Susan May Hawley, Lecturer in Stage Management at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland
