Make Room - Open Call

Date: 2 June 2019 - , 23:59

Make Room is a new creative development programme at The White House designed to make room for new voices and ideas in our programme, supporting under-represented groups to have agency within the arts and their communities.

We currently have two opportunities you can apply for:

Studio Bursaries provide free dedicated studio space, access to one-to-one mentoring and a travel stipend with the aim of helping to alleviate the financial constraints of art making and widen access to opportunities within the arts.

Project Bursaries provide support to develop and test a creative idea that responds to your local community with positive change at its core, with the aim of developing new approaches to community-led programming.

Come to one of our information events to find out more

Tuesday 14 May, 5pm-7pm
Thursday 23 May, 12pm-2pm

Deadline to apply: 2 June

You will:

  • Be an individual artist, collective or group
  • Work, live or study in Barking and Dagenham or neighbouring boroughs of Havering, Redbridge and Newham
  • Have an interest in The White House programme and/or working collaboratively and within social contexts

We particularly encourage artists from groups that are under-represented in the arts to apply, for example artists with Black, Asian or minority ethnic heritage, those who are facing barriers due to difficult socio-economic situations and those who identify as LGBTQ+ or have disabilities. We ask artists to make this clear when applying, if applicable.
