Musical Theatre Audition: Dance
This course is for people age 16+ who are interested in applying to the BA Musical Theatre course
This weekend course is for people age 16+ who are interested in applying to the BA Musical Theatre programme at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. It is designed by experienced audition panel members and led by a Dance/Choreography Lecturer. It aims to help you prepare for the group dance call which forms part of the Musical Theatre audition process.
More people than ever are applying to Musical Theatre courses and the audition process is highly competitive. The dance workshop is an often over-looked element of the process but is important for the panel when selecting applicants suitable for the BA programme.
By the end of the weekend you should have:
Gained an overview of the BA Musical Theatre audition process at RCS
Been introduced to a range of physical warm up techniques
Explored a variety of dance styles including jazz, ballet and contemporary
Gained experience of following and re-creating choreography
Developed confidence in expressing yourself through dance
Although this course specifically prepares students for audition at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, it provides skills and experience transferable to other contexts.
