They are recruiting a pro-active, organized marketing assistant with excellent communication skills to be responsible for a wide variety of tasks that keep the department running smoothly. Reporting to the Head of Marketing, you will be the voice of customer services and provide critical event marketing support. This job requires the ability to juggle multiple tasks and work effectively with a variety of stakeholders, adapting communication style for optimal results. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and interested in learning all about marketing, from e-commerce to social media and putting the customer first.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer Services

  • Provide first-rate customer service for website customers, from issuing refunds to following up with their warehouse about missing orders
  • Monitor the customer service inbox, replying to all customers in a professional and efficient manner and forwarding queries to other departments as required
  • Be the department’s main point of contact with their UK warehouse, ensuring that all issues are followed up
  • Approve academic inspection copy requests
  • Assist the London receptionist by providing holiday cover

Events

  • Coordinate event attendance, from small book, launches to large trade shows
  • Report on event KPIs, from number of books sold to the number of new newsletter subscribers
  • Attend a handful (3 or 4) events in the UK a year

Social Media

  • Create and schedule engaging social media posts for every new book with help from the subject marketing executives

General Book Promotion

  • Manage their NetGalley account which enables librarians, journalists and others to preview and review books

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Educated to degree level
  • Excellent command of written English, including the ability to write and edit engaging copy
  • Handles multiple priorities and deadlines while paying close attention to detail
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate and build positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders

Desired

  • A year’s work experience
  • Reasonable knowledge of and interest in their publishing subject areas
  • An understanding of publishing processes
  • Experience working with third-party suppliers
  • An aptitude for learning new systems and software tools
  • CMS experience
