Working Hours: Part Time (2/3 days per week)

Salary: £27,000 – £30,000 FT equivalent’

Wac Arts mission is to empower young people to change their world through the arts. Wac Arts has a commitment to those who face barriers to opportunity. Our ambition is to enable three times the number of young people to experience the transformational effect of Wac Arts by 2021, whilst extending our rich heritage of participation to an ever-widening audience.

The role in summary

2018 marks Wac Arts 40th anniversary and draws on 140 years of community activism in the grade 2-listed Old Town Hall where we are custodians. We have been awarded a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to develop our Connecting Communities project which will celebrate the diverse (hi)stories of participation and performance of Wac Arts and the Old Town Hall.

This role will be responsible for coordinating and leading the project. They will be line managed by our Youth and Community Engagement Manager and Director of Programmes. The officer will work in close collaboration with Wac Arts internal team and its multigenerational community of volunteers and young people.

Connecting communities will make previously archived material publicly available. The project will identify and capture our communities’ stories and oral histories around the themes of migration, family and generations, and success and aspiration and share them publicly in our beautiful building, through performance and/or events and online.
