£10.55 per hour

The Association of Anaesthetists are seeking a Heritage Intern to help with the day-to-day running of the Anaesthesia Heritage Centre. 

The Heritage Centre at the Association includes an accredited museum, rare book collection and archive. It has an increasing number of visitors and it runs an active programme of events with the support of a team of highly committed heritage volunteers. The Association is currently implementing a new long term strategy. Part of this strategy is our heritage vision that we will ‘link the past with the present and keep alive the history of the specialty through education and information and preserving our heritage’.

Duties include: 

  • To assist the Heritage Officer with the day-to-day operations of the Heritage Centre. Helping with visitors, public tours and research enquiries.
  • To assist with marketing of the Heritage Centre using social media channels, looking at ways of increasing engagement and developing closer relationships with followers and partners, and producing social media metrics to help create the social media strategy.
  • To assist with the display, interpretation and promotion of the collections, exhibitions, publications and associated activities, working with and liaising with colleagues and other services. To assist with temporary exhibitions.
  • To work with the Heritage Officer in carrying out a collection inventory and audit of objects, books and other materials. Then using that data to carry out an exercise to update Adlib and produce condition reports.
  • To work with the Heritage Officer in reviewing office files and those relating to the museum, digitising and creating back-up records to ensure compliance with Museum Accreditation and GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation).
  • To assist in formulating a schools outreach activity and running pilots.
