Based at The Place, a creative powerhouse for dance development, London Contemporary Dance School (LCDS) has been preparing young artists for a physically rigorous and highly creative profession for 50 years. The school ensures that its students are versed in the skills and knowledge that will enable them to achieve a lifelong career within the professional dance industry, in whatever shape that may take. An education at LCDS is grounded in a culture that celebrates the young emergent critical artistic voice, which gives it space, acknowledgment and above all works to develop its uniqueness.
With 150 undergraduates and 50 postgraduates from all over the world, LCDS pushes the boundaries of what dance can be through an educational portfolio comprising; BA (Hons) in Contemporary Dance, MA/PGDip Contemporary Dance with two performance pathways and MA Screendance.
As a member of the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama that offers shared services for six schools based in London, Bristol and Leeds for 1,000 students we are able to leverage advantages in scale and impact and build key partnerships.
We are looking to appoint a newly created post within our Registry and Student Well-Being team, providing learning support for our undergraduate and postgraduate students. The key objective of this role is to support academic attainment by equipping students with the knowledge and ability to access learning support throughout their studies, whilst also developing invaluable life skills and strategies to advance their future careers.
Ideal candidates will hold a specialist qualification in providing support to students with specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) and have experience working with and supporting students across three specialist areas:
- SpLDs such as dyslexia, dyspraxia.
- English as a foreign language
- Academic and study skills
They will be driven to provide high quality student support services and able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues affecting students’ learning experience in a diverse higher education environment.
Term time only (37 Weeks per year)
Salary: Approximately 0.7 of £30,570 p.a. to be pro-rated based on agreed hours
