Jacksons Lane has been a creative and cultural hub for North London for over 40 years. Based in Highgate, they are a hub for the local community, running a range of programmes from contemporary theatre and circus, to arts-based classes and activities, and a large-scale outreach programme for hard-to-reach communities.
The team at Jacksons Lane are offering a rare and exciting opportunity for an intern to join their Participation Department for a twelve month period. The successful candidate will work alongside the team across a range of Participation projects for all their communities, focusing on Project Support, Administration and other general responsibilities across the Theatre.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
- Project management and evaluation
- How to design and run a project from start to finish
- How to develop your workshop delivery skills
- Support on recruitment for participation projects and act as the first point of contact for those involved
- Attend regular department planning and evaluation meetings
- Budgeting and financial skills
- How to provide admin support across the theatre’s programme of work, compiling resources and answering general enquiries via phone and email
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the administration of participation projects, including regular promotion and reminder email and phone calls to participants
- Carry out promotion and marketing of projects
- Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of projects collating data into spreadsheets for reporting
- Ensure records of volunteers are up to date and manage regular volunteer evaluations
- Assist on participation projects off-site as and when required
- Handle enquiries for potential new tutors for classes and courses and programmes
- Set up meetings, book current classes and courses tutors for the next term
- Liaise with marketing and keep an up to date database of classes and courses for the website
- General office duties such as photocopying and filing
- Manage and create material for participation in social media accounts including Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and Instagram
- Maintain good relationships with all Jacksons Lane visitors including companies, audiences, tutors and participants
- Ensure health & safety and licensing regulations
- Ensuring that all income is handled in accordance with financial procedures (training provided)

- Able to demonstrate an enthusiasm for theatre
- Have an interest in participation, education or community work
- Friendly and approachable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Team player
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
