We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in theatre who is highly motivated to explore a career in Technical Theatre. In return, the New Vic will offer a varied and exciting programme and our in-house expertise to support you, ensuring that we offer a valuable range of experience delivered by trained and skilled staff.
You will work across all aspects of the technical department, including, sound, lighting, audio video, flying and pyrotechnics. You will operate shows and set up and reset after performances in our main auditorium, as well as facilitate small scale studio and touring performances for our Education and Borderlines departments. As part of a producing theatre, you will also assist with the creation, building and wiring of stage practicals, liaising with workshops, costume and other production departments to create our in-house productions.
Our ideal candidate will have good technical aptitude and willingness to learn about all aspects of technical theatre especially sound and lighting. They will also have great attention to detail, a proactive ‘can do’ attitude and good team working skills, whilst delivering high quality technical work and upholding Health and Safety standards.
Hours are scheduled on a rota basis and will involve day time, evening and weekend working (potentially including Bank Holidays).
