Meadow Arts seeks Youth Trustee and Trustee with Finance experience
Application deadline: March 31st 2019
Meadow Arts bring unique contemporary art projects to places where art is not usually shown, supporting artists by commissioning new work and creating inspiring events and exhibitions.
Specialising in contemporary visual art, we are an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation, operating across the West Midlands, predominantly in the rural counties of Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
We deliver one main exhibition annually in response to a theme, plus a variety of ongoing and innovative Meadow Projects, and an in-school art-education programme called Meadow Arts Inspires. We do not have a venue of our own and instead work in collaboration with a wide range of regional partners to create high-quality arts projects in unusual places, from libraries and museums to country parks, cathedrals, and open access public spaces.
Meadow Arts are a small team of 5 part-time staff, with an office based in Ludlow. We are currently seeking to recruit two Trustee positions:
- Treasurer: a person with financial management experience to replace our out-going Treasurer who has supported the company since 2008. Specific skills in overseeing approval of management accounts, cash flow spreadsheets and the company annual return.
- Youth Trustee: our Youth Trustee provides the company with a new way of looking at the impact of our work, as well as helping to shape ideas in ways that might appeal to a younger audience. The position is mentored and offers a great opportunity to learn about arts company governance in a supportive environment. Our current Youth Trustee has taken a year’s leave from the Board of Directors to provide paid maternity cover to our Artistic Programme Manager. The position to cover her seat on the Board is available until February 2020.
The Board meet quarterly (March, June, September and December) and meeting venues rotate so that each year one meeting is hosted in London, Birmingham, Ludlow and at the venue of our main exhibition (in 2019 that will be Witley Court, Worcestershire). Meetings usually last two hours and travel expenses are remunerated.
