Free Television Acting Workshop with Ian Smith

IdeasTap is offering 96 actors the chance to attend a free three-hour TV Acting masterclass

Date: 13 May 2014, 10:00 - , 13:00

IdeasTap is offering 96 actors the chance to attend a free three-hour masterclass with Ian Smith, director of the Television Workshop. The masterclass will be based around a typical Television Workshop acting workout – a mix of games, exercises, improvisation and script work.

Masterclasses will be taking place in Manchester and Birmingham on 13 and 15 May respectively. Successful applicants will be given the option to either attend a morning masterclass (10am to 1pm), or an afternoon masterclass (2pm to 5pm). The content of each class will be the same. There will be 96 winners of this opportunity (four sessions, each attended by 24 actors).

You will be expected to learn a short piece of script, which will be provided in advance. Strategies for getting to the heart of the scene will be explored. Actors will be encouraged to find the truth in their work, to authentically and imaginatively connect with character and situation.
