BBC Introducing ‘un-plugged’ project

We are expanding the project to gradually include all of our member colleges, and this Autumn will be including CPD for those taking part.

Creative & Cultural Skills have been working with BBC Introducing on a national partnership to connect students with the wider parts of their programme – from technical placements on their festival stages to filming a band’s first video. The partnership was announced as part of the BBC Music Awards, and we are looking to formally launch early next year with a national spread of colleges taking part.

The project is based around three areas:

  • Creating recorded and filmed sessions of bands to be shown on the BBC Introducing shows
  • BBC led talks and panels in participating colleges, with a line-up consisting of those prominent in the local music scene and relevant to the student’s curriculum.
  • The opportunity for students to gain internships and placements related to BBC activity. You will have seen that we are piloting some of these with the BBC Introducing stages at Leeds, Reading and Download.

The CPD session will run between 11am (arrivals from 10.30) until 4pm at BBC Broadcasting House London W1A 1AA (Tuesday 29 September) and Belfast BT 2 8HQ (Thursday 1 October).

As part of the day tutors will learn about the project and how it will expand, meet with the producing team and workshop elements of the delivery, and work with other colleges inthe network to explore jointed up approaches to embedding the project into your curriculum.

We are encouraging up to three tutors from each college to attend and their names | any dietary | access needs should be sent to programmes@ccskills.org.uk by 11 September. Names after this date may not be gaurenteed a space. At least one tutor from each college must attend to take part in the project.
