Design Museum’s “CHANGING LIVES”: Sign up to the design challenge!
Creative & Cultural Skills, in partnership with Design Museum, call for those passionate about innovative design to join the competition: Changing Lives: Travel, Migration, Mobility for 14-19 year olds.
Design Theme: In response to the museum’s forthcoming 2015 Designers in Residence exhibition, ‘Migration’, as well as its own relocation in 2016, this year’s brief is entitled: “CHANGING LIVES: Travel Migration and Mobility”. This theme encourages students to consider how design can have a positive impact for people experiencing a change or journey. The competition includes 4 discipline-based briefs plus an option to generate their own brief.
Exhibitions: The Design Museum has two compelling exhibitions which have informed the 2015 competition theme: a ‘Cycle Revolution’ and ‘Migration’. Although not compulsory we recommend that you visit to inspire ideas and engage with the theme.
Free Workshops: An exclusive opportunity for our education members to enjoy two free ‘YOUR STUDIO’ workshops at the Design Museum, which focuses on developing the design process, and includes a free competition briefing session. To book a workshop please register here by 10am Monday 21 September 2015. For those unable to attend a workshop an online discussion forum can be arranged.
Awards: Each shortlisted entry will be awarded the accolade Student Designer of the Year 2016, with the winners announced at an awards ceremony, with a range of exciting design prizes on offer.
Deadlines: Please email the Programme team to register your interest by 10am Monday 21 September 2015, with the name of your college and estimated student numbers for each pathway. The submission deadline for entries will be 9am on Friday 15 January 2016 and successful entries will hear back in February 2016. Should you have any enquiries please call the Programmes team on 020 3668 5753.
