Museum volunteering programme seeks young jobseekers

UK COLLEGES: Let young jobseekers in your network know about the Inspiring Futures: Volunteering for Wellbeing programme.

What does the programme involve?

This is a 10-week programme of training delivered by the Museum of Science & Industry (MOSI). It will take place at IWM North and Manchester Museum.

Participants will learn about the organisation, learn about volunteering and gain Level One Open Award Units.

The course uses the unique collections and spaces of museums as a stimulus for learning. Participants will develop their communication, interpersonal, teamwork and customer service skills.

Following completion of the training course, participants are offered a 6-week volunteer placement at their host venue or at one of our heritage partner venues:

  • Manchester Art Gallery
  • Manchester Jewish Museum
  • National Trust Dunham Massey
  • Ordsall Hall
  • People’s History Museum
  • Whitworth Art Gallery.

Who can apply?

Young people (aged 18-25) who are not in work or training. 

What are the dates?

  • Closing date for applications: Monday 13 January 2014
  • Taster session will be held: Monday 20 January 2014
  • Course will start: Tuesday 11 February 2014.
