Delegates had the opportunity to visit Wicked the Musical on their first night at the summit.

Two days of debate and activity confirmed the broad objectives of the network which seeks to support colleges in equipping FE students with the skills the sector is looking for, as well as exclusive CPD training for staff.

The group of senior leaders from FE discussed key themes such as skills gaps in the creative industries, equality and diversity, and developing the creative curriculum. Industry input came from the National Theatre who introduced their Smart Caption Glasses to the group; Arts Council England who shared their findings on diversity; and the education team from Wicked the Musical who also organised a visit for the college leaders at the end of the first night.

Agreed priorities coming out of the summit was for Creative & Cultural Skills to continue to play a brokering role in bringing employers into FE, a commitment to developing student voice, and to building a cultural sector which is truly representative of our society. The next focus for our leadership group of colleges will be a roundtable on 'Apprenticeships in the Cultural Sector' hosted by the National College Creative Industries with input from the Royal Opera House and the London Theatre Consortium.

If you work in FE and would like to gain member-only opportunities for your students to engage with the cultural sector then email info@ccskills.org.uk for further details.
