Royal Opera House 2015/16 Design Challenge CPD (15 September 2015)

The Royal Opera House has launched the sixth Design Challenge based around the Verdi opera 'La Traviata'.

The 2016 Design Challenge was announced on 3 June as part of a new permanant exhibition of last year's finalists. This year it will be based around the opera Verdi's 'La Traviata'.

Colleges taking part in the Challenge and Tutors attending the CPD are attached. If your name is not included please contact programmes@ccskills.org.uk

The Design Challenge will cover the follwing areas:

  • Set
  • Costume
  • Hair & Make-Up 
  • Marketing Strategy

The winners will be announced in 2016 as part of the live screenings of the opera across the UK.

Tutor CPD -15 September 2015

The CPD day schedule as follows:

9:30 - 10:00:  Arrival / Registration (Teas & coffees)

10:00:  Start

13.00 - 13:45: Lunch* 

16.30: End

  • Director’s visions
  • Briefs
  • Judging and Best Practice
  • Embedding Design Challenge in the curriculum

Please familiarise yourself with the Design Challenge website and read the updated briefs, Directors visions and terms and conditions. There are changes in the project year-on-year and part of the CPD will be around how you can further embed the project in your curriculum through your delivery.

*please note that lunch will NOT be provided. You are encouraged to bring your own lunch or go into Covent Garden to purchase food.

Re-imagine La Traviata digitally
