Simon Lovelace has worked in the professional entertainment and events industry all his life.
Simon runs Crewclass training courses, which provide training and career advice to people entering the sharp end of the technical side in the events and entertainment industry.
He started as a child actor in the late 70's and, after a brief period as a professional drummer in an 80's indie band, went to work in commercial recording studio's as a sound engineer.
In the mid 90's he found his true vocation when he was introduced to production crewing company Stage Miracles, where he worked as a stagehand on all manner of live events from stadium and arena rock concerts to television shoots and corporate events.
After a while he went freelance and since then has hung up lights and plugged in speakers all over Europe. He is a widely experienced production crewman with a track record in theatre, concert, corporate events, even circus!
He currently works on the production team at Scarborough Open Air Theatre, the biggest ouutdoor theatre in Europe.
In 2010 Simon developed and launched Crewclass, The Essential Introduction to World Class Crewing (www.crewclass.co.uk). This led him to being invited to teach Production Arts at BTEC Level 3 in a west london college in 2012.
Since then he has been working closely with NSA CC Skills and is enthusiastically committed to the mission statement of "recognising, developing and improving skills opportunities for the creative and cultural workforce".
