Wendy Shorter is a Fellow, Director and Past President of the Association of Master Upholsterers & Soft Furnishers (AMUSF) and a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Upholders (archaic word for upholsterers). In 2008 she was appointed Director of Training for the AMUSF and she represents the Association on several industry boards.
Wendy runs her own upholstery and soft furnishings training centre near St. Albans, Hertfordshire where she and her staff takes great delight in encouraging and developing a new generation of professional craftsmen and women.
Wendy has won several training awards: Marsh Heritage Crafts Trainers Award 2014; Craft Skills Award 2013; 2012 Heritage Crafts Association Trainer Award; 2011 Proskills Training Provider of the Year Award; 2010 Furniture Industry Trust’s Women in Furniture Inspirational Woman Award; 2008 Training Centre of the Year Special Recognition Award by the University of Hertfordshire. In July 2012 Wendy and her staff received Certificates of Excellence from the Worshipful Company of Upholders and in 2010 Wendy published her book “Professional Soft Furnishings”.
