South West College

South West College

SWC is the largest provider of education and employment in the South West region on NI. With over 20,000 enrolments annually and a turnover of £40m, the College makes a major contribution to the local and regional economy. Located in Cookstown, Dungannon, Enniskillen and Omagh the College offers unrivalled facilities that continually exceed the expectation of everyone that enters through the doors.

The college is actively involved with many local and national theatre companies.  At the moment the Performing Arts department is working with the National Theatres Connections Programme - this is also linking in with the Lyric Theatre for a weekend of student performance.  Both students and tutors are involved with the Royal Shakespeare’s Open Stages Project which has included voice training with the Royal Shakespeare voice coach Michael Corbridge and they will be performing in the forthcoming production of Comedy of Errors in the Ardhowen which will then be showcased in the Lyric Theatre.

For the past two years the College has been used as a host venue for the internationally renowned Samuel Beckett Happy Days festival.  During this time a number of internationally renowned journalists and musicians have graced the corridors of the College to partake in the Happy days festival.

The college is making great strides when it comes to developing the skill set of students who wish to pursue a career in Creative Media.  With lecturing staff who are considered experts in Animation Software such as Maya and Adobe and others who have a wealth of experience in industry, future generations of students are being equipped with the necessary skill set to develop their own careers in Creative Media. The skills of the lecturing staff are complimented by both the new innovation centres in South West College - IDEA and IMAGE.  Both Idea and Image are state of the art development spaces, equipped with industry standard equipment and staffed by highly trained creative experts.
