Darren has worked in the theatre industry for 20 years in a variety of backstage roles, ranging from Assistant Carpenter to Production Manager. He now works as the Head of Construction at the National Theatre - overseeing four departments with a team of 25 brilliant crafts men and women.
His experience is very much centred around working for funded arts organisations and mainly in Opera and Theatre. He has created a number of Trainee and Apprenticeship programmes alongside proactively promoting work experience opportunities whenever possible.
He has lectured at RADA, Guildhall School of Speech and Drama, Bath Spa University, Rose Bruford College, and the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts.
He is very aware of how the opportunities he was presented within the early part of his career have allowed him to progress to where he is today, and he is keen to carry on that ethos.
