Hilary is a freelance consultant with extensive experience in the Craft sector, particularly in the area of education and skills.
She was a founder member of the Development Board and subsequently Industry Skills Director for Craft at Creative & Cultural Skills, in which role she led the UK-wide consultation, research and initial drafting of the Creative Blueprint for Craft – the government sponsored and sector led action plan for education and skills in the craft sector.
She also worked with the Crafts Council to research and write content for a broad based advocacy publication for the craft sector and with the Prince of Wales’s Charities on their engagement with heritage craft.
She is an adviser to the Heritage Craft Association and has facilitated a number of workshops for them in the development of their aims and objectives. In 20012 she had the role of Awards Manager for the Craft Skills Awards and she is currently Interim Chair of the Craft Industry Board.
