The Future of Skills

Employment in 2030

Recent debates about the future of jobs have mainly focused on whether or not they are at risk of automation.

In this study, authors Hasan Bakhshi from Nesta, Jonathan M. Downing, a PhD student from University of Oxford, Michael A Osborne, the Dyson Associate Professor in Machine Learning and Philippe Schneider, an independent researcher, use a novel and comprehensive method to map out how employment is likely to change, and the implications for skills.

The study will show both what we can expect, and where we should be uncertain.

It will also shine a light on the skills that are likely to be in greater demand, including interpersonal skills, higher-order cognitive skills, and systems skills.
