Youth Contract Wage Incentive

The wage incentive for the Youth Contract has now ended.

Launched in April 2012 for Work Programme providers as part of the Youth Contract measures, with expansion in July 2012 and December 2012 to Jobcentre Plus, the Youth Contract Wage Incentive has had a major impact on the employment of thousands of young people.

Significant reductions in youth unemployment have been made over the last few years as a result of the blended range of youth contract measures such as Work Experience, Sector Based Work Academies (sbwa), Apprenticeships and Wage Incentives.

Funding was allocated up to and including March 2015, with the Department for Work and Pensions always intending to end the Wage Incentive in a planned way.
