Student Success at Youth Awards

Four students from Amersham & Wycombe College were recognised for their efforts at the Chiltern District Council’s Youth Awards 2017 which took place at Kings Church, Amersham on Thursday 16 March.

Gemma Faulkner studying on the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy course scooped the Young Entrepreneur award for her business selling handmade hair accessories.  Fellow PJEA student Henry Matthews took the runner-up slot for his work crafting jewellery and pendants from recycled skateboards. 

Foundation Studies student Rebecca Atkins was presented with the Healthy Living award and HND in Computing and Systems development student Christine Hoar was presented with a Youth Award Nominee certificate for her academic achievement.

Host for the evening, Chiltern District Council Cabinet Member for Community, Councillor Graham Harris, told a packed audience that the standard and calibre of the nominations had been exceptional amongst the record-breaking number of nominations.

Awards were presented in 10 categories – Environmental, Academic, Arts, Sports, Healthy Living, Special Achievement, Young Entrepreneur, Young Carer, Young Volunteer and the Chairman’s Award.
